Black Skies Blue Team shoot beside wall laughing

About Us

Black Skies Blue is a collective of experienced business advisors with a bold vision.

We want our children to live and work in a Wellbeing Economy in Scotland, an economy that works for people and planet.

We believe the future doesn’t have to be scary, there are opportunities and joy to be found in a more sustainable, kinder economy.

To do this we work with businesses to help them understand their impact on the world around them, dial up the positive and dial down the negative.

We organise our services into 3 strands: net zero plans, B Corp ambitions and impact measurement.

Our Mission

Our mission is to support Scottish businesses to adopt sustainable business models and practices that move us all closer to a wellbeing economy.

We believe an economy that works for people and planet is a kinder, happier, more joyful one.

Fee Structure

As a responsible business we want to be as transparent as possible about what we do and how much it costs.

How much you pay will depend on the level of activity required. As a guide you can expect to pay:

  • For larger companies, £600 per day or £700 to “pay it forward” and allow a purpose led start up or small company to benefit from the same.
  • For smaller companies £450 or £500 per day to “pay it forward”.
  • £270 per day with an equity discount
  • £0 for purpose led start ups or early stage companies.

To achieve our vision we need all Scottish businesses to move to a sustainable business model. We do not want cost to be a barrier.  Get in touch and we will help any way we can.

FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers

In line with B Lab UK’s equity discount, we provide a 40% discount to Scottish entrepreneurs facing systemic barriers to business ownership.

To receive an equity discount, your company must be one of the following groups:

  • People of colour or under-represented ethnicities
  • Women
  • Disabled people
  • LGBTQ+

We define a start up as any company operational for 12 months or less.

We define the operational start date from the time at which at least one individual was contributing 35+ hours per week to the company, or when the first material contract was signed with a supplier or customer.

We don’t want to be overly prescriptive here, so if you just miss the mark and have tipped into ‘”early stage” with less than 5 employees, you would also be considered.

We allow for 20% of our billable time to be spent on non-fee earning work as standard, increasing where possible through our “pay it forward” model.
